Do you ever receive that itch? The itch to bet, to head to the nearest betting house, to come across a high stakes game of Hold'em, to sit at a Twenty-one table for hours on end. I like that itch. And I like to scratch it.

I also really like to watch folks gamble. No two poker faces seem similar. When I wager I like to consider I put on a poker face which is impenetrable. Except I know I have certain gestures. For one, the only time I smoke is when I play poker or Black jack. And then I chain smoke. Except I smoke whether I am winning or losing, no matter if I've a beneficial hand or bad.

I once wagered in a weekly poker game. The game was always 5 card draw. There was a man who wagered with us just about every week who constantly wore a hat. When he was given a excellent hand, subconsciously, he would start touching and wagering with his hat. Needless to say, he in no way won.

The greatest poker player I ever saw was a gentleman who made a lot more actions and gestures at a poker table than anybody I had ever seen. He was impeccable in the way he dressed. Constantly an high-priced suit and tie, footwear shined and nails trimmed. He was diligent in this manner. And he was often brushing his pants or holding his hands or stacking his chips in neat little piles.

I use to study him for hours. I would tried to see if I could spot his tell. Choosing fuzz off his vest- did this imply he was bluffing? Stacking his chips within a short pile - did this mean he had a very good hand?

Years later I ran into him in a bar in Philly and we had a drink. I asked him if he were aware of all those motions he manufactured or if they have been subconscious. He informed me that each individual thing he did at a poker table was deliberate. He said that everybody is always checking out everyone else's poker face. They're trying to notice the the tell.

So his method was to provide them lots to believe about. His thinking was if they had been thinking about him picking a piece of lint off his vest and what it meant they sure were not pondering about their cards.

His process was diversion. And it worked for him. Never give up a program that works for you.
