Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender on the globe by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn't a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for poker. He says that he's learning every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
