Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse comments from others destroy his dream of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

He started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn't a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. Phil says that he's learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
