Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the last table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with quads against Negreanu's full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest bettors around the world. While participating in web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be one of the greatest players in the world but he can't buy in for the total amount. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be players you have never heard about. Gus can be found competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in big stakes Omaha and hold'em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in cash rounds?
