Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the last table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a huge pot with quads against Daniel's full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest gamblers around the world. While participating in internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He often competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless he is penniless, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he can't buy-in for the full amount. I believe television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best players in the world might be players you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas hold'em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in cash games?
