Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn't permit the detrimental comments from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil states that he's learning every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
