Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from others destroy his goal of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn't a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil says that he's learning every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
