Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn't let the negative comments from others kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning period and winning wasn't a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
