Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn't allow the negative feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker players in the world.

He started playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn't a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He says that he's learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
