Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is frequently seen as one of the most complex but favored poker games. It's a variation that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites action from every level of players. This is the primary reason why a once invisible variation, has expanded in acceptance so rapidly.

Omaha 8 or better starts just like a regular game of Omaha. Four cards are given out to each player. A sequence of betting ensues where gamblers can wager, check, or fold. 3 cards are handed out, this is known as the flop. Another round of betting happens. Once all the gamblers have in turn called or folded, an additional card is flipped on the turn. a further round of wagering happens at which point the river card is flipped. The gamblers must attempt to put together the best high and low 5 card hands based on the board and hole cards.

This is the point where a few entrants often get confused. Contrasted to Texas Hold 'Em, in which the board can make up every player's hand, in Omaha Hi-Lo the player must use exactly 3 cards on the board, and precisely two hole cards. No more, not a single card less. Contrary to normal Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot may be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."

A high hand is exactly what it sounds like. It is the strongest hand out of everyone's, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house. It's the identical notion in just about every poker game.

The low hand is more complex, but certainly free's up the play. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. the lowest hand is the worst hand that could be made, with the lowest being A-2-3-4-5. Since straights and flushes don't count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and lower. The low hand wins half of the pot, as does the high hand. When there's no low hand presented, the higher hand wins the whole pot.

It may seem complicated initially, following a couple of rounds you will be able to get the fundamental nuances of play with ease.
